Michelangelo
Michelangelo is a coming of age story of the great artist. In spite of his father's strong determination that his son become a banker, Michelangelo insists that he wants to become an artist, a sculptor. Even the formidable Savonarola can't convince Michelangelo that art is worthless and that he should give it up. Instead, he completely commits himself to mastering every goal on his "artistic" journey. At twenty-one, he sculpts the great Pieta, the biblical hero David at twenty-seven, and paints the Sistine Ceiling in his early thirties. The musical celebrates how Michelangelo transcends countless conflicts, challenges, and obstacles to become one of the world's greatest artists.
